About Niamh
Niamh is from Glanmire, just outside Cork city, and read business and law at University College Cork before training as a financial planner. Her first job out of college was inside the consumer-protection arm of a tier-1 Irish bank, where she spent four years on the AML and chargeback team — long enough to learn exactly why some casino withdrawals get held up and what to ask for when they do.
She moved into iGaming editorial in 2023 because the cross-over fit her instinct that the most important thing about an online casino is whether the money can come back out of it. At Ireland Roots she leads the Payment Methods Specialist desk: every casino review on this site is fact-checked through Niamh on payment availability, withdrawal timing, and the practical mechanics of the Irish banking system.
Niamh's perspective is unusual in iGaming because she has the financial-services lens. She has spent her career on the consumer-protection side of payments rather than the operator-marketing side, and she writes from that position. If a casino looks great on paper but the underlying payment route involves a third-party processor flagged on the CBI's warning list, Niamh notices first.
Outside the day job she's a volunteer with Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) Cork, runs the Marina parkrun most weekends, and is teaching herself Irish (currently somewhere between TG4 with subtitles and reading Tuairisc.ie comfortably). Her cleanest casino result on record: a Revolut withdrawal that landed in 38 minutes.

Methodology
Niamh's payment-method assessments are built on real transactions: every casino under review is tested with a Revolut deposit (Visa rail), an Irish bank Visa debit deposit, and at least one withdrawal back to each method. She tracks the casino-side processing time, the bank-side clearing time, and any KYC friction separately, because each tells a different story. Where a casino's advertised withdrawal speed and the real round-trip diverge by more than 30%, that's flagged in the review and weighted into the casino's overall score.
